Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The ongoing protest by job-terminated teachers in front of the School Service Commission (SSC) building in Salt Lake came to an abrupt halt today, following a spate of reported indiscipline. The demonstrators had been staging a sit-in for five consecutive days, with a hunger strike running simultaneously for four of those days.
The sit-in, which drew significant public and media attention, was aimed at demanding justice and clarity from the state government over their dismissal. The teachers claimed to have lost their jobs due to irregularities in the SSC recruitment process and were seeking reinstatement and transparency.
However, what began as a peaceful and determined movement took a chaotic turn. Sources present at the site confirmed that mismanagement, infighting, and lack of coordination led to a breakdown in discipline. This ultimately forced the protest leaders to announce a temporary suspension of both the sit-in and the hunger strike.
